Book Donation Project—As part of the AESEDA mission, the Alliance has developed a library/information resources component to promote collaboration among partner institutions in providing access to library and information resources related to georesource management and sustainable livelihoods in Africa. Information resources are selected by the Earth and Mineral Sciences librarian and gathered at Penn State for distribution to Alliance members. Resources consist primarily of printed materials (books, journals, maps, and reports) at the collegiate level related to the georesources or sustainable development. Relevant materials have already been selected and obtained. The Alliance seeks funding assistance in shipping these resources to Alliance members. For more information please contact the head librarian, Linda Musser.
UNESCO Chair—The UNESCO chair serves as a means of capacity building through the transfer and sharing of knowledge in a spirit of solidarity between institutions. The institutions involved in this particular program are Penn State University, University of Cape Town and the University of Ibadan. This involves the development of Ph.D. programs in Georesource Engineering Management in these universities and the transfer of knowledge between the three universities involved. For more information, please contact Michael Adewumi, Director of AESEDA.
